Full Description
Chile's National Zoo, founded in 1925, is the oldest zoo in the country and one of the most important in South America. Located on the slopes of Cerro San Cristóbal, it is home to more than 1,000 animals of about 158 different species, including many species native to Chile such as the puma, the Andean condor and the huemul. The zoo focuses on the conservation, education and research of endangered species. During the tour a naturalist guide will explain the habitats, behavior and conservation efforts for the different species. Educational talks are held during the day, and there are interactive areas where visitors can learn more about Chilean and world wildlife.
